Dubai - Aramex founder and CEO Fadi Ghandour will be urging the region to further invest in human capital when he speaks to members and guests of the Capital Club, Dubai’s premier private business club, as part of its ‘Under the Spotlight’ series on Monday, 18 January.

“At Aramex, sustainability is embedded in our business model and reflected in our strategy. We understand that our company’s development is intertwined with the well being of all stakeholders. Therefore it is imperative for us to take on an activist approach where we partner with communities, institutions and entrepreneurs to craft creative solutions that address the challenges our region is facing. The private sector has a wealth of knowledge and resources that need to be leveraged and partnerships across sectors need to be forged to create an enabling entrepreneurial environment that gets our youth to think of starting businesses and become job creators rather than only job seekers,” said Ghandour, one of the Middle East’s most respected entrepreneurs.

During the discussion with Capital Club member and guests, Ghandour will be grilled by the former BBC/Al Jazeera broadcaster and the Club’s head of events Shahnaz Pakravan, on the thought processes, stumbling blocks and milestones that have made Aramex a logistics leader in the region. As the chief decision-maker behind the only Middle East brand traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange, Ghandour is ideally positioned to advise budding entrepreneurs how to build a successful operation from the ground up.

Pulitzer Prize-winner Thomas Friedman hailed Ghandour’s accomplishments in his book The World is Flat, stating “Every Arab should know the Aramex story. It is a remarkable story of entrepreneurship drawing entirely on Arab talent.”

This month, Logistics Middle East magazine named Fadi Ghandour as the most influential CEO of a logistics company in the Middle East in its annual Power 25 list..

The Capital Club created the ‘Under the Spotlight’ series to enable business leaders in the region to share personal insights into their successes and occasional mishaps, in order to foster entrepreneurship and executive leadership through example. The Club also hosts global executives, diplomats, and business visionaries through its executive lunch and evening forums.

The Capital Club opened on 9 April 2008, in the DIFC’s Gate Village. Since its launch in late 2006, the Club has attracted over 1,500 members, including some of the region’s most influential decision-makers, and leaders in business, finance and government. Little expense has been spared to create an elegant and welcoming ambience in which to meet, to exchange ideas and to entertain guests within the DIFC. The luxury décor of the club – which houses dining rooms, lounges, private meeting rooms, a wellness centre and guest rooms -- is exquisite and includes contemporary art from the region, fine antiques, handcrafted furniture and rich imported fabrics.
